But from what I can remember the new versions is on par with the old version. ![]() I can’t compare it to the previous version of C4 ultimate since it’s been a while since I used it. Needless to say the pumps were just average. The Muscletech Shatter has 6g of Citrulline Malate, 400mg Peak ATP, and 200mg of Hawthorn extract. Pumps were good with the Citrulline and Nitrates. Pump: This is where C4 beats the shit out of the Muscletech Shatter. So as far as energy and focus, the new C4 was about the same as the previous version and the Muscletech Shatter. 4. As long as the caffeine is within that range I don’t notice too much difference between most preworkouts. I’m glad they left the caffeine at 300mg. A side note is that I expected the C4 to mix up clear, it did have a mild orange tint.Įnergy: Energy was good. It has 1.5 g of nitrogisine (arginine inositol silicate) It has 50 mg of Japanese knot extract. Specifications per daily dose (3 capsules): Has 50 mg of calcium. The C4 had a more balanced orange mango combination. Black Onyx Shatter Neuro NO from Muscletech comes in a container with 60 dietary supplement capsules. The Muscletech was drinkable but had a bitter aftertaste and much stronger orange flavor. Profile: Looks like the main differences from the original C4 Ultimate are that they replaced the AAKG, Betaine, and Nitrosigine with a gram of Citrulline Nitrate and a gram of Creatine HCL.įlavor : The orange mango flavor was much better and smoother than the Muscletech orange mango. This supplement does contain some good ingredients we’d have L-Citrulline (or a better version of it) and. MuscleTech markets the product as a pre-workout/weight loss hybrid as though this is a selling point. ![]() Just finished up a tub of Muscletech Black Onyx Shatter in orange mango for comparison. The main issue with Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx Ripped is that it’s not what sure what it is. Sent a tub of the newer version of C4 Ultimate in orange mango for review. ![]()

By standing on one leg and tucking the other under their belly, flamingos can limit the amount of heat that escapes through their legs and feet. Birds lose body heat through their limbs. Scientists also believe that a one-legged stance may help flamingos stay warm. But, why do they perform this balancing act? Research suggests that flamingos use more muscle power when standing on two legs, so standing on one leg may be less tiring. ![]() Flamingos can sleep standing on one leg.įlamingos can stand on one foot for long periods of time - even long enough to fall asleep. If flamingos are traveling long distances, they often go by night. Some flamingos will travel to breed, migrate to a new body of water as seasons change, or move to warmer, lower-altitude areas for the winter. You may be used to seeing flamingos gathered in large groups on the ground, but they also take flight. Both parents can produce crop milk to feed a flamingo chick until it is old enough to eat on its own. It may sound icky, but a flamingo’s crop milk is chock-full of healthy proteins and fats. Flamingo parents feed their chicks a liquid they secrete, called crop milk.Ī flamingo’s “milk” is produced in its crop (part of its throat) and then brought up through its mouth. The high salt can still be deadly for some flamingo chicks if salt rings build up on their legs, making it impossible for them to walk. Researchers are still uncovering the unique aspects of a flamingo’s physiology - like tough leg skin - that help it survive such harsh waters. The high concentration of carbonate salts in these lakes is so corrosive that it can burn the skin, making the water uninhabitable for most animals. But some flamingo species breed and raise their young in extremely salty bodies of water, called alkaline or “soda” lakes. Some flamingos live in extreme environments.įlamingos are typically found in shallow saltwater or brackish waters (where saltwater and freshwater mix). When the leg bends, it’s the ankle you see hinging. Confused? Think of a flamingo as standing on tiptoe. A flamingo’s knees are located higher up the legs, hidden by the body and feathers. What looks like a flamingo's knee is really its ankle joint. Don’t let your eyes deceive you - a flamingo’s knees don’t bend backward!įlamingo legs actually bend just like human legs. There are more than 2 million lesser flamingos brightening skies and shores with their pink plumage. They are the smallest flamingos and the most abundant. Lesser flamingos are found in parts of Africa and southern Asia. Andean flamingos are the rarest of the six species, with fewer than 40,000 birds. They are the largest and tallest flamingo species.Ĭhilean, Andean, and James’s flamingos are found only in South America. Greater flamingos are found in parts of Africa, Asia, and Europe. In addition to Caribbean flamingos, there are lesser, greater, James’s (or Puna), Chilean and Andean flamingos. Comb-like plates along the edge of the bill create a filter for water to rush out, while trapping food inside. It then sweeps its head side-to-side, using its tongue to pump water in and out of its bill. When it’s time to eat, a flamingo will place its head upside down in the water with its bill pointed at its feet. They eat algae, small seeds, tiny crustaceans (like brine shrimp), fly larvae, and other plants and animals that live in shallow waters. The term filter feeder may conjure images of baleen whales or oyster reefs, but flamingos are filter feeders too. Flamingos are filter feeders and turn their heads “upside down” to eat. As a flamingo dines on algae and brine shrimp, its body metabolizes the pigments - turning its feathers pink. They are also found in the microscopic algae that brine shrimp eat. Carotenoids give carrots their orange color or turn ripe tomatoes red. Many plants produce natural red, yellow or orange pigments, called carotenoids. Flamingos get their pink color from their food.įlamingos really are what they eat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Six and 12 months after treatment, the participants in both CBTI treatment groups maintained most of their sleep improvements. Researchers collected information about the participants' sleep habits at the beginning of the study and one week after treatments ended. In both groups, the sleep coaches also had one weekly telephone call with a CBTI-trained psychologist to review how the participants were doing with the program. This involved learning techniques such as using the bed only for sleeping, not for watching TV or reading, limiting the amount of time in bed so sleep becomes more consolidated, and other techniques. ![]() These people did not receive CBTI from sleep coaches.ĭuring the five one-hour sessions over a six-week period, in both the one-on-one and group sessions, the coaches counseled participants about improving sleep habits and how to avoid practices that can make it harder to sleep well. People in the third group (the control group) received a general sleep education program, which also consisted of five one-hour sessions over six weeks. The second group also received CBTI, but in a group format. One group of people received one-on-one CBTI sessions with the sleep coach. The first two groups of people received CBTI from sleep coaches (who had a master's degree in social work, public health, or communications) who had attended the special CBTI training. The participants were mostly white male veterans who ranged in age from 60- to 90-years-old. ![]() In their study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, the researchers assigned 159 people to one of three treatment groups. The program requires brief training for the sleep coaches, who are social workers or other health educators. They learn how to give CBTI using a manual and have weekly, supervised telephone calls with a CBTI psychologist. The program uses trained "sleep coaches" who are not therapists. To address these problems, a team of researchers developed a new CBTI treatment program. Primary care providers also may believe that it is challenging to motivate older adults to see a therapist for insomnia. During CBTI sessions, therapists work with patients to help them change their thinking, behavior, and emotional responses related to sleep issues, which can improve their insomnia.Īlthough treatment guidelines recommend CBTI as a primary therapy for older adults with insomnia, many people do not receive it because only a limited number of therapists have CBTI training. What's more, older adults are more likely than younger adults to take sedatives or hypnotic-type sleeping pills, which increases their risks of falls, fractures, and even death.Ĭognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) is a type of talk therapy that is considered highly effective for treating older adults with insomnia. ![]() |
